Cure for Epilepsy?

A certain herbal clinic in Kenya which shall remain unnamed claims it can cure epilepsy in 4 months. Sighting that through particular herbs and the right nutrition, the condition can be a thing of the past.
What causes epilepsy in the first place? Being that epilepsy is a condition affecting the brain and associated with seizures and disorientation, causal factors are indeed brain related. Experts say that foetal brain is the first organ that develops during pregnancy thus poor growth in the first three months is the leading cause of the disease. Morning sickness is usually an excellent sign that the baby is developing right. Mothers are advised time and time again by nutrition gurus to eat brainy foods during and after pregnancy, breast feed their babies and get enough sleep to ensure their kids grow right.
During birth, babies face risks of epilepsy when their heads get trapped especially in the event that it is not handled by a qualified obstetrician or even done at home without the help of a health practitioner.
The health of the mother during pregnancy is also another causal factor with certain babies said to develop the condition if the mother had health complications like acute malaria and meningitis.
Stress is also a huge contributing factor with the condition developing when a person bites too much than they can chew or are under environments that cause emotional distress.
The myths surrounding epilepsy cannot be more wrong. Despite this being the 21st century many still think the condition is contagious thus people suffering from epilepsy encounter discrimination. When family members, friends, neighbors and other individuals in the society detach themselves from an epileptic person, they induce unnecessary stress and aggravate the condition. These individuals need constant support and protection against accidents that occur as a results of falls caused by seizures.
The notion that epilepsy is "a disease of the young" is also misguided as anyone at any age can develop the disease. It is no surprise that even at 20 years, one can have an early onset of the condition yet they were okay all through childhood.
In attending to persons during an epileptic attack, most do not budge until they see the mouth foaming or the person losing control of their bowels. This is life threatening as at times a person only seizes and loses consciousness without the other symptoms being in play.
The assumption that epilepsy is just another sign of "madness"; just like autism or a stroke is indeed a myth.
With conventional medicine putting emphasis in pharmacologically produced drugs, herbal doctors are chatting a different path in treating the disease. Most are using herbs and the right nutrition to improve coordination of the nerves, boast energy metabolism, influence the endocrine system to work better and generally keep the patient mentally balanced.
When epilepsy is left unmanaged or untreated, it can lead to disintegration and weakness of the body as a result of the seizures, and can even progress to a serious mental illness.
In attempting to cure epilepsy, is there a place for conventional and alternative medicine to work together?
The conversation continues…
